Rodney Trotter Bio PictureBiography

Rodney Trotter is a producer, recording artist, writer and performer. His music roots were enriched by the big band sounds of Duke Ellington: his mother sang lead vocals for the legendary "Duke". Shortly after his arrival in Los Angeles, Rodney signed his first record deal with Casablanca Records, where Jheryl Busby introduced him to George Clinton.  Writing and collaborating with George Clinton and performing with such funk-rock groups as General Kane for Motown and Parliament-Funkadelic.

Many questions were answered for Brian and Eddie Holland of the most accomplished writing team in the history of popular music Holland-Dozier-Holland, as soon as Rodney Trotter and his group Q&A were signed to Shanty Town Records.  Rodney soon became not only a recording artist at Shanty Town Records but was head producer, writer and A&R Director for several of the Holland's companies, which included the world famous Invitus, Hot Wax and HDH Records labels which all have achieved Gold and Platinum success.  The HDH trio have scored hits for the likes of The Supremes, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Mavis Staples (Staple Singers), Freda Payne and countless others.

Rodney produced and wrote for artists such as, Chico DeBarge, El DeBarge, Funkadelic, Mavis Stapes (Staple Singers), Mona Lisa Young, General Kane, Kuh Ledesma, Mandrill and Troop, etc...  Soundtracks for Showtime/HBO's original picture "Riot" and Newline Cinemas' "Normal Life".
